Sixth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Fairfield Past Central Noble Varsity Cougars By GameChanger Media Fairfield defeated Central Noble Varsity Cougars 8-1 on Saturday thanks in part to six runs in the sixth inning. Fairfield opened the scoring in the third after Eli Miller singled, scoring one run. Treyton Fletcher scored after tagging up, which helped Central Noble Varsity Cougars tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. A triple by Grady Garber gave Fairfield the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth. Fairfield scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Grady Chupp drew a walk, scoring one run, Miller was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Garber tripled, scoring three runs, and Fletcher induced Garrett Stoltzfus to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Hunter Kauffman earned the win for Fairfield. The hurler surrendered three hits and one run over six and one-third innings, striking out six and walking four. Brody Morgan took the loss for Central Noble Varsity Cougars. The right-handed pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking two. Landyn Champion stepped on the bump first for Central Noble Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Landen Burkhart, Samuel Hoover, Fletcher, and Corbin Douglas each collected one hit for Central Noble Varsity Cougars. Champion led the team with one run batted in.
